Bancrofts Open Door to a Dow Jones Deal

An article in today's Times says that the Bancrofts have opened the door to talks with News Corporation over their offer for Dow Jones. Click here for the article.

In a statement issued by Dow Jones yesterday, the Bancroft family's representative said that "the mission of Dow Jones may be better accomplished in combination with another oraganization, which may include News Corporation".

The New York Times' coverage states that this announcement doesn't necessarily mean News Corp. will capture Dow Jones and other bidders could emerge. Forbes says that the Bancrofts' meeting with Murdoch and their willingness to consider other bids, may be a way to encourage others suitors to step forward. Commentators in this Bloomberg article feel confident News Corp. will win the deal.
